Become a Surrogate

Becoming a Surrogate: Your Journey to Making a Family Complete

At Power Fertility, we understand that surrogacy is not just a medical journey—it's a life-changing experience for both the surrogate and the intended parents. As a surrogate, you have the unique opportunity to bring joy and hope into the lives of families who are unable to conceive on their own. You are not only giving the gift of life but also creating lifelong bonds with those you help. Our program is designed to ensure that you feel supported, respected, and fully informed every step of the way.

Qualifications & Requirements

Women who wish to become surrogates must meet a set of requirements to ensure they are a good fit physically, mentally and emotionally. These requirements are in place to minimize the risk of being a surrogate and to help provide as successful as a journey as possible for the gestational carrier as well as the intended parents. Everyone’s goal is a healthy baby, happy intended parents, and a proud surrogate!

  • The first step to becoming a surrogate is submitting an application. We ask that you provide detailed answers to a series of questions about your medical history, lifestyle, and motivations. This allows us to better understand your suitability and commitment to the surrogacy journey. Please make sure to attach a few recent family pictures, including one of just yourself.

  • Once your application is reviewed and accepted, we will schedule a one-on-one consultation. During this meeting, we’ll discuss your application, clarify any questions, and explain the surrogacy process in detail. We’ll also take the time to understand your background and your reasons for wanting to become a surrogate, ensuring a strong, compassionate connection between you and the intended parents.

  • To ensure the health and safety of all parties involved, you will undergo a thorough screening process. This includes medical evaluations, a psychological assessment, and a background check. We may request that you provide medical records from previous pregnancies, and you may be asked to meet with our fertility specialists to discuss your health and readiness for surrogacy.

  • Once you have successfully passed the screening process, we will begin the matching phase. We consider factors such as lifestyle compatibility, values, and location to find the best match between you and the intended parents. You’ll have the opportunity to meet virtually or in person to discuss expectations, ask questions, and determine if it’s a good fit for everyone involved. If both parties agree, we’ll move forward with the next steps.

  • After matching, the next step is finalizing the legal agreement. Both you and the intended parents will have separate legal representation to ensure that your rights and responsibilities are protected throughout the surrogacy journey. The legal contract will outline compensation, medical protocols, and other crucial details. This process typically takes a few weeks to complete.

Both you and the intended parents will have separate legal representation to ensure that your rights and responsibilities are protected throughout the surrogacy journey. The legal contract will outline compensation, medical protocols, and other crucial details. This process typically takes a few weeks to complete.

  • The embryo transfer is a quick and painless procedure in which one or more embryos are placed into your uterus. You will be awake during the process, and the procedure itself takes less than a minute. Afterward, you may need to rest for 24 to 72 hours to help with the implantation process. The fertility clinic will continue to monitor you closely during this time.

  • After the transfer, you will wait 10-14 days for a blood test to confirm pregnancy. If the results are positive, we’ll schedule a follow-up test to check for a rise in HCG levels. Around 5-7 weeks, you’ll undergo an ultrasound to confirm a heartbeat. From there, you’ll continue to receive regular checkups until you reach the 10-12 week mark, at which point you’ll transition to your own OB-GYN for continued care.

  • At around 20 weeks, we’ll start preparing the necessary paperwork for the pre-birth order, which legally establishes the intended parents as the child’s legal parents before birth. On the day of delivery, you will help bring joy to the intended parents as they hold their newborn child for the first time. Afterward, you’ll have a follow-up with your OB-GYN to ensure you are recovering well.

  • In the months following the birth, you will continue to receive support and follow-up care. We’ll assist with any post-delivery legal processes, and the intended parents will handle all necessary arrangements for the child’s birth certificate and legal recognition. Our team will also continue to check in with you to ensure your emotional and physical well-being.
